These are the three things I believe you must have if you want to make it as an airline pilot:
Pilots and air traffic controllers are required to take medical exams to show they can do their jobs safely. The CAA Medical Department sets down the requirements.
To become an airline pilot you will require a Class 1 Medical, which will basically says that you are “fit, have good eyesight and hearing, and have no current or previous illness which might interfere with the safe exercise of a commercial or airline transport pilot’s license.”

The cost of this is steep! £246 in 2006. But if you're serious about becoming an airline pilot it's worth finding out if your body is upto it as early as you can. Then you can start making some serious decisions.

Some people are born with the skills to fly and some aren't. An aptitude test is the best way of independently finding out if you have what it takes.
An aptitude test measures your ability to handle an aircraft, deal with the various stimuli and to some extent your ability to learn.
